The ability to provide quotes to customers is essential to any business. We have worked hard to make it quick and easy to create a quote. Products (both inventory and 3rd party) are entered using a standardized description.
Entering a line item is easy As you type the first few characters of an item description, Metalsmith will present you with a product list that matches what you have entered so far. The more you type, the shorter the list of possible matches. Once you see the product in the list that you want, simply select it and all the product detail is entered into the line (full description, quantity on hand and default unit price). The are no product codes to memorize. Minimum Information for a Quote Other than the line items, you only need to enter the customer's name to save the Quote. Again, we make that easy. You enter the first few characters of the customer's name and we show you a list of possible matches. Enter more characters to reduce the choices. Select the customer from the list to fill in all the customer information into the Quote. Get it to the customer Once you have saved the Quote, you can immediately send it to the customer, yourself and/or others via email or fax.
Convert to an Order You can convert a Quote into a Order with one mouse-click. Simply click to "Convert to an Order" text at the top of the Order page and Metalsmith will reserve inventory for the ordered amounts (if you are not buying the items from a 3rd party) and change the status of the record to "In Process" and assign a unique Order Number to the Order. At this point a Job Order can be printed for the Order.
